Worker Falls 50 Feet From Labuan Building; Survives With Broken Bones

LABUAN: A construction worker was injured after falling from over 50 feet off a budget hotel that is under construction downtown here Monday.

The incident which is believed to be work-related, occurred at around 2pm, Bernama reported.

The man in his 40’s was said to have suffered broken bones and was sent to the hospital for immediate treatment.

Police have classified the case as “an accident at the workplace’ and did not open the case for investigation.

No foul play was suspected.

However Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) could not be immediately contacted for comment.

The worker lies on the pavement at the bottom of the building under construction. It is said that the safety netting help break his fall.
