Wordcamp is coming to Kota Kinabalu!

KOTA KINABALU: Wordcamp Kota Kinabalu 2019, an incubated community-organized conference centered on the WordPress publishing platform, will be held on the 9th of March 2019 at 1Borneo Hypermall.

Suitable for WordPress enthusiasts of every level, the conference will be featuring several local and international experts who will be sharing their knowledge of the website platform through talks, workshops and Q&A sessions.

Kota Kinabalu is one of the three communities selected out of 104 applications around the world by The WordCamp Incubator Program in early 2018 to host WordCamps. The program provides a jump start for new WordPress communities where meetups have not yet been well-established.

The first WordCamp was held in San Francisco in 2006, and each subsequent year has brought growth in the number of cities in which it is organized. As of 2010, there have been WordCamps on every continent except Antarctica.

The conference is run fully by volunteers and sponsored by WooCommerce, Jetpack, GoDaddy, Bluehost and Peepso. Interested participants only have to pay a very minimal amount for a ticket to attend which includes access to all presentations, coffee & breakfast, a group lunch, and an event t-shirt.

According to Baizurah Basri, the lead organizer of the first WordCamp in Borneo, “the objective is to gather all WordPress enthusiasts under one roof to join together and share WordPress-related knowledge.

The event is open to people with different backgrounds and different levels of expertise, from absolute beginners to professionals.

“WordCamps should be attended by everyone who uses WordPress, and everyone who should use WordPress. This category includes bloggers, designers, developers, authors, marketers, SEOs, Businesses, Non-profits, photographers, realtors, consultants, entrepreneurs, etc.,” she said.

“There will also be an after-party for you to meet new friends, business partners, employees and employers.”
