KOTA KINABALU: HerPortal Malaysia in collaboration with University College Sabah Foundation and Yayasan Sabah Group, will organize “Women Career & Entrepreneurship Fair 2017”, at the university on May 20 featuring both Career Fair and Entrepreneurships.
According to Angeline S Chin, CEO of HerPortal Malaysia, her team in Kuala Lumpur has been working hard in getting Sabahan Employers support to participate in the Career Fair,.
“We have never felt so challenging in getting them to come on board due to them being used to the old ways of recruiting” she said in a statement
Sabahan employers still prefer recruiting via newspaper advertisements and the aim of the Fair is to try to educate and encourage them to explore meeting candidates directly via career fair.
In Kuala Lumpur, Career Fairs are not something new and most companies are more than supportive to participate.
“Although the event is targeted to women, it is also open to public,” said Angeline. “Visitors are encouraged to get their resumes ready and explore opportunities available at the event.”
Dr Alan Lim, UCSF’s Dean of the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship said UCSF believes that this platform is a strategic one and judging from the synergy, the event will be a successful and impactful one too.
“Womenpreneurs (or Entreprenuers) who are currently seeking to promote their products and services are also encouraged to take part and showcase their businesses at the Bazaar to create more awareness or simply get connected to potential customers,” he said.
According to Chin, having bazaar at the event, will indirectly ignite and promote the spirit of Entrepreneurships especially to the younger generations that will be visiting the event.
Interesting activities lined up for the event include Career & Entrepreneurship pocket talks by career and business experts, learn how to write a great CV, how to ace that interview techniques, Social Media Strategies and doing business online, Business Model Canvas and bootstrapping a startup.
There will be an interesting open and live sharing session where impromptu interviews with inspiring women entrepreneurs and leaders in Sabah will be conducted in regards to their transformation journey.
Among those to be interviewed are Stella Matilda (Founder of Parents Avenue Magazine), Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas (Politician, Warisan), Cabrine Solibun (Founder, CSA Studio) and two more others.
