KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Women Entrepreneurship Professional Association lauds Sabah State Budget 2018 as it shows the State government’s commitment towards uplifting the welfare of women in Sabah.

Aminah Ambrose, its President said next year’s Budget serves to empower women through the various programmes implemented by government through the Ministry of Community Development and Consumer Affairs (KPMHEP) and the Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA).

“The Budget is “people centric” covering all segments of society, women included,” she said in a statement.

She added that Musa Aman, the Chief Minister recognized the important role women play towards the development of the State and nation building.

“The budget offers the best for women, boosting our roles in developing the family institution and entrepreneurship,” she said.

She further commented that with the increased allocation in Micro Credit & Usahawan Desa, women would be empowered to be more entrepreneurial and gain a better footing in business.

Aminah, who is also Umno Kudat Wanita Chief said the Entrepreneurship Development Programme for single mothers and women living in poverty will equip them with knowledge and skills that could help improve their livelihood.

“I am happy to note that the State Government has acknowledged that the role of women cannot be disregarded, as they deliver the next generations and future leaders who will shoulder the trust and lead the State into a greater success,” she added.
