KOTA KINABALU: Wirawati Parti Warisan Sabah (WARISAN) has urged the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) administration to publish the contact details of the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM).
For the record, the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) is an appointed position by the Chief Minister’s Department.
Many former candidates of GRS who lost in the election were appointed as UPPM.
In a statement released on Saturday, Izzatul Aini who is a former Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Sabah said, the publication of UPPM’s contact details is to enable Sabahans better connect with the government.
“I have been receiving a lot of complains from the public who need urgent assistance. More so during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
“The people do not know how to contact their respective UPPM.”
“In fact many do not even know who their UPPM is.”
Izzatul who is also Putatan Wirawati Chief added, the current arrangement is very different from that of the former administration.
“When I was serving as a Special Officer in the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office, the list of UPPM was published.”
“We compiled the name list, the contact numbers, office numbers, mobiles and sent it throughout the state.”
“We did that because we wanted to ease communication between Sabahans and the government.”
“But now, the contact details of the respective UPPMs are no where to be found.”
Izzatul said, she was informed that the current UPPMs have a substantive amount of allocation.
“GRS has announced that allocation for UPPM is ready. Since these funds are ready, it should be used to help the needy now. And the people must be able to get in touch with their UPPMs.”
