Unthinkable, Discriminatory To Punish TAR Colleges Due To MCA Link

COMMENT: TAR (Tungku Abdul Rahman) Institutions have always been apolitical, contradictory to what the shameless Finance Minister believes

Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng ought to be ashamed of himself for politicising the higher learning institution — UTAR and TAR UC. MCA, through our initiatives, founded these two prestigious institutions in an effort to provide a better education and equal opportunities to all Malaysians regardless of class and creed. In fact, some DAP leaders have also benefited from MCA’s efforts and now hold portfolios in the Cabinet.

To think that the Finance Minister has chosen to punish these two institutions, based purely on their connections to MCA, is both unthinkable and discriminatory. As a matter of fact, MCA has always kept both educational institutions clear of political elements.

It is unfortunate that Lim Guan Eng has now chosen to single out UTAR and TAR UC to gain political mileage and dish out petty political revenge; knowing fully well that both institutions are apolitical and has remained above the political fray. Such attributes contribute to their reputation as renowned educational centres.

“Boo…..shame on you, Mr Lim Guan Eng.” These were the words that popped in my mind when I first heard his smug justification on why the government had decided to butcher the operational allocation for TAR UC.

It is most disappointing to think that in order to score a one-up against MCA for nothing more than a massive ego boost, Lim Guan Eng would deliberately choose to hang the students of TAR UC out to dry. He would rather jeopardise their access to affordable and quality education; just so he can spite MCA and feel all high and mighty about it.

Lim Guan Eng, this is the education and the future of our young ones you are messing around with. In your desperation to pursue your personal vendetta against MCA, you would stoop as low as putting your personal interest above those of TAR UC students.

TAR UC was founded by MCA back in the year 1969, with the most noble and honourable of intentions — to provide accessible, affordable and quality tertiary education to ALL Malaysians, irrespective of race, religion AND political affiliations. Your fellow cabinet minister colleagues and member of parliaments seated alongside you today (in deafening silence – shame on all of them too!) are the proud products of TAR UC.

THEY are the living proofs; testament of the intentions of MCA. When it came to educating our future, MCA has made it a point to keep it above politics. It is YOU, Lim Guan Eng, who chose to hit below the belt and damned TAR UC, just so you could go to bed with a smirk on your face tonight.

It takes us 50 years to build TAR UC into what it is today, but it takes only one shameless Guan Eng to bring it down.
