Tawau Police Nab Two Men, Seize Sharp Weapon; 3 Druggies Also Detained

TAWAU – The police detained two men in connection with the seizure of a 19-inch sharp rod at a hotel here Wednesday evening.

Tawau police chief, Fadil Marsus said in the 2.40pm incident, a police team raided a room at the hotel and seized the weapon which was hidden under a twin bed.

In a statement here Thursday, he said the suspects, aged between 25 and 35, were linked to a car break-in case at the Kubota Square last month.

Meanwhile in another incident, Fadil said the police nabbed three drug addicts, including two Philippine nationals, at two separate locations on Tuesday.

The police seized syabu weighing 31.5 grammes, which was in a sling bag, from the male Philippine national who tried to escape when a police team arrived at a shop in Jalan Chong Thien Voon about 7.40pm.

The 32-year-old Filipina is married to the 38-year-old local addict. The drug addict couple was detained at an unnumbered house about 10.50pm at the 18th mile Jalan Apas Parti.

A plastic bag containing syabu weighing 5.1 grammes was seized from the couple.
