TAWAU: A 43-year-old businesswoman lost RM50,000 in cash after an assailant broke into her car and escaped with her handbag that was kept in the vehicle.

Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the 3.30pm incident on Monday occurred here when the victim was waiting in her car while her daughter was shopping at a supermarket.

He said according to the victim, a suspect suddenly came to her car and smashed the front passenger side windscreen and escaped with the bag where she had kept RM50,000 which was earlier withdrawn from a bank.

ACP Fadil said the suspect than escaped on a motorcycle with an accomplice.

“Police are now tracking down the two suspects, believed to be around in their 20s,” he told Bernama via WhatsApp Tuesday.
