Suspect Held For Alleged Murder After Drinking Party Turns Deadly

SIBU: A 37-year old man has been arrested after a drinking session among six friends on Tuesday night ended up with one of them being found dead in a drain.

It is believed that a quarrel broke out between the victim, Entermang Julin, and his drinking partners at an abandoned house at Jalan Mahsuri at 11pm Tuesday night.


Entermang, a 40-year old fisherman, was found face down in a drain near the house by a member of the public and police had initially classified the case as sudden death.

Deputy district police chief, Superintendent Martin Koo said the case is now being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

An eyewitness was said to have told police he saw the victim drinking with five others on Tuesday night.

The victim is said to have been hit on the head with a piece of wood, before his body was dragged and dumped into the nearby drain.

Police also recovered the murder weapon from the scene.

According to Supt Martin, the suspect was arrested at Jalan Khoo Pheng Loong at 5.30pm on Wednesday.
