KOTA KINBAALU – The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) has called on the people of Sabah, especially those who are living in the city and its vicinity, to take time out to partake in the 2017 Chinese New Year Carnival which will be held at the Padang Merdeka here, from 23 – 26 January.
FCAS president Datuk Seri Panglima T.C Goh pointed out that the said event is part of its annual programs held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, with the chief aim of allowing Malaysians of all races to experience and to enjoy the half-a-month-long annual celebration for the Chinese community.
He also noted that this year, the organiser has lined-up more programs for the carnival which includes a newly-formulated dance competition which also features song and dance performances by some guest artists. And to make the carnival more interesting, there will be two sessions of lion and dragon dance performances, nightly.
Besides this, the organiser is also shifting the carnival from its traditional venue at the Gaya Street to the Padang Merdeka, so that more people could participate in the event.
Meanwhile, Goh was also glad to note that two of its Honorary Advisors Datuk Aloysius Tan Shu Hing Tan and Datuk Dato’ Chee Chi Sang have agreed to join its group of sponsors in supporting the carnival which is considered the most significant and grandiose event for the Chinese community of Sabah.
