Supermarket Owner Fined RM50,000 For Selling Controlled Items Without Licence

KOTA SAMARAHAN – The Sessions Court here Wednesday fined a supermarket owner RM50,000, in default six months’ jail, for selling scheduled controlled items without a licence.

Judge Marutin Pagan meted out the fine on Sin Joon Miaw, 63, after finding him guilty of the charge.

Sin was charged with selling the scheduled controlled items, comprising 37 bottles of 5kg Reiser cooking oil, 76 bottles of 5kg Twin Leaves cooking oil and 2,515 packets 1kg Prai sugar, all worth RM9,617.30, without a licence at his supermarket in Serian last Nov 7.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor from the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, Nurul Azrina Mohd Yusof.
