Sunday Date At Tugu Peringatan Inanam For 3rd Christmas Street Carnival

INANAM – The 2016 Inanam Christmas Street Festival will be held on Sunday (December 11), at the Inanam Memorial Monument starting from 7pm.

According to Paul Chong, organizing chairman for the event, this is the 3rd year that the Protem Inanam branch of the Sabah Council Churches have organised it.

There will be more than 20 churches participating in this auspicious event to celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ.

It is a combined churches event that brings churches from all denominations from areas in and around Kolombong, Inanam, Menggatal and Telipok, commonly known as the North of Kota Kinabalu.

An attractive programme has been lined up, including the lighting up of the Christmas tree, Carol Singing, Christmas drama, lucky draws and traditional ethnic dances.

In addition, churches will be setting up stalls as early as 3pm in the afternoon, to showcase their church’s ministry and offering memorabilia as well as food and beverages. This will be part of their fund raising activity by the individual churches.

Paul expressed his gratefulness to the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai who approved and supported the event to be held in the Inanam Memorial Monument.

Yeo has been invited as the Guest of Honour for the event. The Organizing committee will be also inviting all community leaders to grace this event as the Theme of the event is “Christmas if FOR ALL – Joy of Hope in Christ Jesus”

In September 2014, church leaders and pastors of various denominations in Kolombong, Inanam ,Menggatal and Telipok came together over a lunch fellowship and prayer meeting.

The purpose of this fellowship meeting was initiated by Ps Wilson Ho, former Sabah Council of Churches secretary and Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen – Inanam State Assemblyman to cast the vision of churches reaching out to the community in the northern part of Kota Kinabalu City.

A protem Inanam branch of combined churches was formed under the umbrella covering of Sabah Council of Churches comprised of RC, SIB, BCCM, Anglican, PCS, CCC, IFGF and Methodist church as advised by Ps Wilson Ho – Secretary of Sabah Council of Churches.

The 1st Christmas Celebration was also held at Tugu Peringatan Inanam on Dec 15 2014 which attracted some 500-600 people.
