PUTRAJAYA – Creative use of puppets to explain Newton’s Third Law brought success to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tun Abdul Razak, Kuching, Sarawak when it came up overall winner of the national Petrosains Science Show 2016 competition here Friday.
The team comprising Joekryno Joni, 19, and Santa Senthia Saka, 19, won a trip to the Scitech Science Museum in Perth, Australia costing RM20,000 which is fully sponsored by Petrosains, the main organiser of the competition.
The duo who will be sitting for their Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) in November also won the gold medal with a cash prize of RM7,000 as well as a plaque, certificate and Petrosains goods.
The prize-presentation ceremony which was officiated by Education Deputy Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan was also attended by Petronas Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan and Petrosains Chief Executive Officer Tengku Nasariah Tengku Syed Ibrahim.
Two other schools also won the gold medal in the competition, namely SMK Tamparuli, Sabah and SMK Langgar, Kedah after beating five other schools in the finals.
