Shutters Down For Sandakan Private Clinic

SANDAKAN: A private clinic  here was ordered to temporarily close Health Department a parient who had visited the clinic turned out to be Covid-19 positive.

Sandakan District Health Officer Dr. Johari Awang Besar confirmed the closure Sunday and said the case was the 21st in the district and puts Sandakan into the orange zone from yellow.

He said the case was sporadic and was not connected to any  any cluster.

The patient was also not in  close contact with any existing Covid-19 cases in the district.

He noted that latest patient had visited several health facilities in Sandakan to seek medical assistance for her condition.

However, the patient during the visits to clinics did not experience any Covid-19 symptoms or Severe Acute Respiratory Illness.

“It is important for people of Sandakan to stay at home and always practice high standrads of hygiene.

‘Protect yourselves by wearing mask, keep a safe distance of at least one meter from another person, and practice correct cough etiquette,” Dr Johari said.

Dr Johari declined to comment on a viral message about a woman who went around several cllinics in Sandakan between April 8 and April 12 to treat a fever.

Another viral WhatsApp message claiming that the patient was detected to be Covid 19 positive when the mandatory  test swab was done before a scheduled surgery.
