SANDAKAN: The body of the seventh of eight missing victims of the recent mud flood at Sen Fu palm oil plantation in Tongod, Kinabatangan has been retrieved.
Kinabatangan district police chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat said in a statement today that 11-year-old Alan’s body was found by Kampung Pingas villagers in Sungai Milian at 2.30pm Tuesday.
He said the search and rescue operation team comprising police, fire and rescue and Malaysian Civil Defence personnel set off from Kampung Pinangah jetty to the location at 6pm.
The team arrived at 8.56pm and returned to Pinangah jetty at 10.45pm with the remains which had been sent to Duchess of Kent Hospital here for post mortem after identification by the victim’s father, he said.
A. Sahak said the last of the mud flood victims named Asma, 37, had yet to be found.
In the incident on April 1, three workers quarters at the plantation were hit by a landslide, rendering eight people missing while three others managed to escape.
However, one of the survivors, Zaleha Binti Mandaya, 40, passed away at the hospital on Sunday from infection.
