TAWAU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau will hold another blood donation drive at SJK(C) Yuk Chin hall here on June 20-21 to resolve an emergency blood shortage at Tawau hospital blood bank.
Its chairman Datuk Dr. Lim Teck Kiong said the blood donation drive will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. this coming Saturday and Sunday due to overwhelming response in the previous campaign.
Lim said many people were worried about donating blood at the blood bank of the Tawau hospital due to the outbreak of Covid-19 since March, which caused blood supply to decrease.
“Thus, in order to solve the people fear of going to the hospital in this period, the federation has decided to hold this charity blood donation drive at the school hall,” he said.
Lim said members of public should not worry going to the blood donation because they will comply with the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP).
The federation also has invited Tawau Rela, the 516th regiment of Territory Army and the 46 Chinese Associations in the federation to participate in this blood donation drive. Success donor will be given a goodies bag.
Last June 6, the federation collected 105 pints of blood out of 144 registrants for the blood bank of Tawau hospital on the first day and another 174 pints out of 226 registrants on the second day (June 7).
