Search continues for missing man in Teluk Cowie

TAWAU: A search and rescue operation for a man believed to be missing in Teluk Cowie here since Friday continued today.

Tawau Marine Police commanding officer Deputy Supt Mohd Nazari Ismail said the radius of the search operation for Nurul Maslan Sabran, 34, covering eight nautical miles, started at 8 am today.

“A total of 13 personnel with three marine police patrol boats were involved in the search operation which also included the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Agency and the Royal Malaysian Navy,” he told reporters here, today.

On Friday, the the marine police patrol team found an unmanned boat with the engine still on in the waters off Ice Box at 5.50 pm.

An inspection of the boat found a backpack containing identification documents and RM13.

Yesterday, the victim’s younger brother, Ismail Sabran said his brother went to Sungai Melayu from mainland Tawau at 2.30 pm on the day of the incident, but had not arrived at his destination.
