Search Continues For Boy After Croc Attack

KINABATANGAN: The search is continuing for an eight-year-old boy, believed attacked by a crocodile, while bathing in the river with his father.

Asmin Abdullah had gone with his father to the river at Kg Muhibbah Hujung but disappeared into the waters at about 11am yesterday.

Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Kinabatangan Officer, Capt. Ahmad Roslan Mohd Kamel said the boy’s father had turned away for just a few minutes when he heard water splashing behind him.

He was shocked to see his son being attacked by a crocodile before both disappeared, he said.

At about 11am, the boy’s father claimed he saw the crocodile resurface near the other side of the river and he raised the alarm.

Other than APM Kinabatangan’s five personnel, 30 other personnel from government agencies are involved in the search and rescue operation together with 13 villagers who volunteered to help.
