Sarawak Sees One more COVID-19 Fatality Today

KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded one more COVID-19 fatality, bringing the death toll due to the virus in the state to 22.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the case involved a 51-year-old man who was admitted to the Miri Hospital on Jan 18 after experiencing breathing difficulty.

The man died yesterday.

“The patient was screened for COVID-19 on Jan 18 and was found to be positive on Jan 20. He was suffering from end stage renal failure which requires dialysis treatment,” JPBN said in a statement today.

Sarawak reported 132 new COVID-19 cases today, which raised cumulative cases in the state to 2,702.

Meanwhile, JPBN also announced that the Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Beluru and Kanowit districts remained as red zones with a total of 1,206 local cases reported in the five districts in the last 14 days.

The Sebauh and Dalat districts also remained as orange zones following 50 local cases reported in them in the same period, JPBN said.
