KUCHING: The police detained three men and a woman last week in connection with printing and using counterfeit money.

The suspects aged between 16 and 33 were picked up in three raids.

Sarawak Commercial CID chief Supt Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah said the police also seized 50 pieces of counterfeit money, mostly in RM100 denominations.

He said in the first raid on March 24, a police team detained a man and a woman at a terrace house in Taman Poh Min and seized counterfeit currency in RM100 denominations.

He said another man was nabbed in a raid at a flat in Jalan Matang on Wednesday while a third was picked up at a house in Taman Sukma, on the same day. In both cases, the police also seized counterfeit money.

“The suspects have been detained under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (POCA),” Mustafa Kamal told a media conference here Monday evening.
