Sarawak Library To Distribute 45,000 Reading Seeds Kits – Fatimah

KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library (PNS) plans to distribute 45,000 Reading Seeds kits for free to promote early literacy and the reading culture among newborns in the state over the next five years.

Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Develop­ment Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the kit worth about RM200 each set consist early learning tools in English and Bahasa Malaysia to guide babies up to three years old.

“We will distribute a total of 8,000 kits (Reading Seeds) this year and target to distribute 45,000 kits in the next five years (2021-2025),” she said in a press conference here today.

According to her, PNS will collaborate with her ministry to distribute the kits to a list of eligible babies and mothers receiving assistance under Endowment Fund Sarawak and Maternity Aid, respectively.
