KUCHING: Sarawak DAP is willing to make concessions to work together with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to support Pakatan Harapan, its chairman Chong Chieng Jen said today.
He said his party was willing to put aside their differences in order to work together with GPS to prevent “extremists” from seizing power and to save the nation from going down the path of destruction.
“Our country is at the crossroads. GPS must make a decision to choose between going along with the kleptocrat plus religious bigots coalition of UMNO and PAS or preserve the progressive coalition of PH,” he said in a statement here.
According to him, it now boils down to GPS to decide whether to support the alliance that also involves UMNO and PAS or the PH coalition.
“I appeal to the leaders of GPS to put aside all past political differences and work together with PH to save our country,” he added.
The statement comes in the wake of tussle for power at the federal level between Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who has aligned himself with Umno-led Barisan Nasional and PAS and PH led by interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
