By resorting such desperate tactic, he said PN is just using the sentiment for fishing vote.
Shim lamented PN and BN could not present elegant policy to benefit Sabahan but just using smearing campaign against Warisan.
“I am perplexed why SAPP, once a dominant force in Sabah political arena, could go so low?
“In fact, Warisan has put up the slogan In God We Trust, Change We Must in GE14. The origin of the slogan is from the first line of Rukun Negara—Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan, becoming the foundation of Malaysia-building.
“At that point of time, not a single BN politician link such slogan to the Philipines. It is Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin who fire the first shot in smearing In God We Trust two years later.
“Now SAPP is joining the fray on smearing Rukun Negara,” he said in a statement today.
Shim questioned whether SAPP information chief Chin Vui Kai has done the homework or just parroting Bung Moktar’s argument?
“The political arena needs policy and discourse to make the nation progress and not relying on unsubstantiated false news for mud-slinging.”
On the Lahad Datu Intrusion 2013, he said then federal defense minister and incumbent foreign minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was reportedly requested diplomatic channel with the Philippines government to resolve the standoff without bloodshed.
“Compare to current strong stance, Hishammuddin took a soft stance to negotiate the Sulu Army intrusion. Unfortunately such move cost BN regime precious time to neutralise the self-styled Sulu Army. 10 police and army personnels were sacrificed.
“Even Veterans group National Patriots Association (Patriot) chief Brigadier-General (Rtd) Mohamed Arshad Raji, on March 2018, criticised the BN regime on mishandling the intrusion.
“According to Arshad, the entire episode would have ended within a few days with minimum casualties to the armed forces if command of the Lahad Datu operation had been given to the top general, the ground commander.”
Looking Hishammuddin’s strong stance on the illegal claim by the Phillippines on Sabah, Shim claimed the BN politician aim to fishing vote
“In contrast, Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal reiterated many times, since August 2020, to oppose the Philippines House of Representatives’s approval to print Sabah map on their passport.
“Shafie also requested Federal Government, who is solely responsible for foreign affairs to resolve the issue.
“Sadly, the political opponents only knew to spin Shafie’s defending Sabah in Malaysia.”
He sarcastically suggested Chin and Hishammuddin could push for the breaking of Malaysia-Philipines relationship and moving more Peninsular army and police into Sabah to defend our sovereignty.
“If they do, these show they are serious. Otherwise they are just politicking the issue.”
