Sandakan’s Fung Ming Supermarket Razed In Early Morning Fire

SANDAKAN – The Fung Ming supermarket at Mile 16 here was left in ruins after an early morning fire gutted the entire building.

Also destroyed in the fire that started at about 5.15am Monday, were three units of double-storey restaurants and offices.

Firemen managed to bring the blaze under control at 6.19am, said a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department.

Nineteen firemen in five vehicles rushed to the scene to fight the blaze and their main objective was to prevent it from spreading to the adjacent shop houses

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire as well as the value of the goods and property destroyed.
