Sandakan Records Four Cases

KOTA KINABALU: Four new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state today involving three Malaysians and a foreigner returning from the Philippines.

The infections were reported in Sandakan.

Caretaker Health and People’s Well-being Minister Datuk Frankie Poon said this had pushed the cumulative cases in Sabah to 406 infections.

There are 19 active cases still being treated statewide, with six each in Penampang and Sandakan, two in the state capital and one each in Tawau, Tuaran, Kota Belud, Papar and Beluran.

He said one recovery was recorded today, making the overall total of recoveries 379 cases.

Fatalities remain at eight with four recorded here and one each in Tawau, Penampang, Keningau and Tambunan.

Nationwide, 15 new positive cases were detected in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall total in the country to 9,038 cases.

The new cases involved 10 local transmissions and five imported ones.

The active cases nationwide now number 200 including two being treated in the intensive care unit and one case needing assistance from breathing equipment.

Eleven new recoveries were recorded at the same time, making the cumulative cases 8,713 cases.

Deaths from Covid-19 infections remain at 125 cases so far countrywide.
