Sammy Ariffin At Best Brew For A Repeat Performance Friday Night

SANDAKAN: Should you be passing by Best Brew at Level 1 of the Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan, and you think you are hearing Tom Jones crooning – listen hard again.

It may sound like that mopped-haired Irishman of Green, Green Grass of Home and Delilah fame, but nah; it is just Mohammad Ariffin Khan aka Sammy Davis down for yet another gig at the fun club.

Apart from Tommy, Sabah’s very own Sammy can also belt out Engelbert Humperdinck numbers and a host of evergreen numbers from other singers of fame.

And if the late Broery Marantika was in town, and heard ‘Angin Malam’ being sung, he could be forgiven if he thought the dj was playing his number. It would be Sammy of course.

Sammy Davis Jnr (1925 – 1990), American actor and popular singer.

Ariffin took up the moniker Sammy, as he does bear an uncanny resemblance to the late Samuel George Davis (Sammy Davis) Jr. American singer, dancer, actor and comedian. He was also noted for his impersonations of actors, musicians and other celebrities.

Sabah-born Ariffin can do all that too.

He is also a professional Master of Ceremonies and has performed at major concerts where VIPs and dignitaries were in attendance. He was winner of the Best Performer Pujaan Nescafe 1992/194.

This time at the Best Brew, the theme is Beach Party and there will be prizes for the best dressed male and female, along with lots of lucky draw prizes. And with a themed party this time around, Sammy has promised a different song list to entertain his fans, dia bilang.

You could call Best Brew to see if there are still any more tickets left. It’s an RM30 entrance fee inclusive of the first drink.
