Sabahan ‘IS’ Bomber, Jonius Ondie, And Imam Goes To Trial In January

KUALA LUMPUR – The trial of Sabahan, Jonius Ondie @ Jahali, accused of bombing a restaurant in Puchong in June is set to be heard next month.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Nordin Hassan on Monday set the trial for Jan 11 and Jan 12 to hear testimony from 12 witnesses.

Jonius, 24, and Imam Wahyudin Karjono, 21 face eight charges under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, and one charge under Section 8 of the Firearms (Heavy Penalties) Act 1971 for using hand grenades.


Jonius, from Kota Marudu, and Imam are alleged to have committed the offence at the Movida restaurant and bar at IOI Boulevard in Puchong at about 2am on June 28.

In a separate court, Jonius was also charged with Section 130J(1)(b) of the Penal Court for the commission of terrorist acts.

A factory operator, Jonius was represented by Aaron Mark Pius, while Imam was represented by Farida Mohammad.

The duo also face a charge under Section 130(c)(1)(b) of the Penal Code for committing terrorist acts.

Eight people were injured during the incident at the Movida restaurant on June 28.

Police later confirmed that it was the first attack by the Islamic State terror group in Malaysia.
