KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government needs to be more sensitive to the level of Internet access in the state to ensure it is not lagging in technological advancement compared to other states, said Common Tower Technologies Sdn Bhd chairman Ghazalie Ansing.
He said Sabah should have its own telecommunication tower monitoring system to monitor field works and sustainability of all existing towers.
“The monitoring system is vital for the Sabah government to assess the demands of Internet capacities at each locality as well as the National Digital Networking Plan (JENDELA) action plan to further benefit the people,” he said in a statement today.
Ghazalie said it was time the state government played a more proactive and direct role to ensure comprehensive development of digital telecommunications throughout the state.
“JENDELA, scheduled to begin in 2021 as announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is a brilliant idea to improve the country’s digital network beyond 4G,” he said.
He said Common Tower Technologies Sdn. Bhd, a subsidiary of Warisan Harta that is fully owned by the state government, would work together and help efforts to increase Sabah’s internet connectivity.
