Residents Around Pulau Omadal Receive Food Baskets

SEMPORNA: About 300 residents of Pulau Omadal, near here, today received food baskets worth RM100 each of daily necessities, to ease their burden in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aid from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) was distributed in collaboration with the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) including the Semporna District Office and the Social Welfare Department.

ESSCom Commander Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman said the 300 residents included 167 from the Pala’u community living in ‘pondohan’ (small huts erected on water) on the coastal area around the island.

“The distribution of the aid was carried out smoothly and quickly,” he said in a statement here today.

He also reminded all parties to comply with the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which is in force and to always cooperate with the security forces on duty.
