Renowned Thai Chefs Showcase Authentic Cooking at Dorsett Labuan

LABUAN – Chefs of the halal-certified hotel restaurant, Dorsett Grand Labuan Victoria’s Brasserie were given an exciting opportunity to learn authentic Thai cookery by renowned Thai chef [email protected]

The chef from the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, north east of Thailand hadbeen promoting traditional Thai cuisine at international hotels in the Peninsular for the last 10 years including in the Berjaya Corporation Berhad’s hotels and resorts and Swiss Garden Hotel.

With her tour to the duty-free-island here, the five star hotel Dorsett Grand Labuan held its first week-long promotion of Asean Food Promotion, with a theme of Authentic Thai Cuisine from Oct 4 to 10.

The 55-year-old chef who has more than 20 years’ experience in the professional cookery introduced at least 45 popular traditional Thai dishes including the signature cuisines ‘Plat Pat Pek and Hoi Maleng Poo’ during the promotion.

“When I create a concept, I like to think of the concept of the dish, but also the environment where and how it will be served. We must involve all components and get all of them, as a whole, become a remarkable and unrepeatable experience.

“This is the challenge that, 20 years ago, I lay myself every single day,” Sunantha said.

Dorsett general manager Susan Carlos said the promotion was not only for the hotel kitchen staff but also an opportunity for the people here to enjoy the rare Thai delicacies.

“The chef shows great respect when cooking her dishes and puts a huge amount of time into her work, she is a very focused chef, something that need to be learnt from her,” she said.
