Prominent Labuan Businessman Denies Molesting Female Staff


LABUAN: Peter Kong was charged at the magistrate’s court here Monday with molesting a female staff aged 23.

The prominent 62-year old Labuan businessman turned politician, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at the restaurant of a hotel here, around 10 pm on Dec 22, 2017.

He joined Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah last year and was appointed as deputy president.

The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries maximum 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine and whipping upon conviction, according to Bernama.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hasnan Abidin, the prosecuting officer proposed a bail of RM5,000 with two sureties.

Leona Dominic Mojiliu, the magistrate however set bail at RM1,500 with one local surety, and fixed March 19 for the next mention.
