PENAMPANG – Former PKR chief, Darell Leiking, has been assured that he will get the fullest support of his former ‘cabang’ (branch) when he recontests the seat in the 14th General Election.

The assurance came from none other than Kenny Chua, who takes over the helm of the ‘cabang’ following Darell’s departure from the federal opposition party, to team up with his Semporna counterpart, Datuk Shafie Apdal in a new party.

“We have no ill feelings towards his (Darell’s) departure; he might move to a different house but still in the same ‘neighbourhood’ which is the Opposition; maybe a smaller bungalow though.

“We will work hand in hand to fight Barisan Nasional,” said Chua after the taking-over of duties from Darell at the Penampang ‘cabang’ PKR office, witnessed by several ‘cabang’ leaders.

Darell meanwhile reiterated that he had explained his move to PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, saying he was probably the first politician to amicably quit a party rather than announce it through the media or by facsimile.

He said he told Wan Azizah that he would not entice any PKR Sabah elected Assemblyman to join him, unless it was based on their own decision.

“We hope to work together for the bigger good as our objective is to topple the Barisan Nasional,” Darell added.
