KOTA KINABALU: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has relocated its floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility, the PFLNG Satu, from the Kumang cluster field offshore Sarawak, to the Kebabangan (KBB) cluster field, offshore Sabah, Wednesday.

In a statement here , the national oil and gas company said the facility would be moored at a water depth of 120 metres in the KBB cluster field, located 90 kilometres northwest of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Executive vice president and chief executive officer upstream Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib said PFLNG Satu’s technology, featuring the capability to move from one location to another, would strengthen the reliability of Petronas’ LNG supply system to meet growing demand.

“Petronas has delivered 19 successful cargoes since the commissioning of PFLNG Satu and we are confident of this success continuing in Sabah waters as well,” he added.

Designed to last up to 20 years without dry-docking, the 365-metre long PFLNG Satu is expected to be able to produce 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year, complementing Petronas’ global LNG portfolio.

It also makes Petronas the leader in FLNG technology, while enhancing its reputation as a preferred and reliable LNG supplier.
