Petronas Only One Yet To Pay 5pc

KOTA KINABALU: National oil and gas giant Petronas has yet to pay the 5 per cent sales tax to the state.

Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said eight other companies operating from the state had started making the payment several months ago.

“Sabah implemented a 5 per cent sales tax on petroleum products in April and eight except for Petronas have started paying,” he said.

The companies operating in Sabah are Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, Repsol Oil and Gas Malaysia Limited, PTTEP Sabah Oil Limited, ConocoPhillips Asia Limited, Sabah Shell Petroleum Company, PT Pertamina Malaysia Eksplorasi Producksi, Shell Energy Asia Limited, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Petronas Floating LND.

Shafie said talks with Petronas would continue to ensure the 5 per cent sales tax was paid.
