LABUAN: Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas is in the Malaysia’s international financial hub of Labuan for a two-day official visit accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Majimor Shariff.
His arrival at the Labuan Airport Wednesday afternoon was received by Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) Director-General Danial Mah Abdullah and Labuan Corporation deputy chief executive officer Rithuan Ismail.
He officiated the Labuan International School’s (LIS) art gallery this morning before making a visit to Labuan FSA office at the Labuan Financial Park Complex here.
During his visit to LIS and Labuan FSA, Abdul Rahman was briefed on the LIS’s student enrolment, students’ activities and studies performance by LIS chief executive officer Jaffree Ismail.
He took about an hour for a briefing on the development of the Labuan international financial sector and Labuan being the Malaysia’s international business financial centre (IBFC).
Mah said the governor’s visit would certainly pave the way for further strengthening of economic relationship between Labuan and Penang, not only from the tapping of the advantages of Labuan IBFC but also in other businesses that the Island could offer.
There are many Penang companies have benefitted from using Labuan IBFC, and with the many positive synergies, the future is exciting with more collaborations that will bring mutual benefits to Labuan,” he said.
