KOTA KINABALU: The decision by Parti Cinta Sabah to leave Gabungan Sabah (United Sabah Alliance) is caused by the manipulation of other parties to make its president, Wilfred Bumburing, the new opposition chief.
Gabungan Sabah chairman Mohd Noor Mansoor in a statement made three hours after PCS had pulled out from the five-party coalition, said if that is the case, then it is sad that PCS has chosen a path that goes against the wishes of Sabahans to see a truly united Sabah coalition of local parties.
“We are surprised by this latest turn of events, because PCS had at the last two meetings of Gabungan Sabah’s full council, reiterated their position to remain in the alliance,” said Mohd Noor.
“The only issue that arose at those meetings, and the PCS decision today (Friday) is the issue of Ketua Pembangkang (opposition chief) in the Dewan Undangan Negeri (Sabah State Assembly).”
Mohd Noor said he was requesting PCS and its members to sincerely reflect and return to the true path of Sabahans’ struggle and not fall into the trap of ‘divide and rule’ by the enemies of Sabah people.
“It has been only five months since the signing of the ‘Gabungan Sabah Charter’ and the Declaration in November, 2016 as our pledge to the people of Sabah,” he pointed out.
The former Berjaya minister added PCS has also pledged itself to the 15 Core Struggles of Gabungan Sabah and that this deviation from the alliance’s struggle goes against the aspirations of Sabahans in its fight to regain full autonomy.
