KOTA KINABALU: Parti Cinta Sabah will study the 13 new state seats proposed by the Election Commission (EC) in Sabah, said its President Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing Wednesday.

He added the party wants to help determine if the additional state seats qualify under Section 2, Part I, of the Thirteenth Schedule of the Federal Constitution.

He also stressed in a statement, the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) applies on the current exercise to increase the state seats.

He disclosed the party would be writing officially to the EC on the constitutional issues involved. “We are currently compiling our findings.”

The EC may have to re-examine the methodology used to carry out the re-delineation exercise, said the PCS Chief. “PCS has strong reasons to believe that discrepancies exist.”

Bumburing said the content of the advertisements, published by the EC to notify the public of the re-delineation exercise, indicates that there may be clear discrepancies.
