LETTER: No matter how rosy PBS leaders paint their party and track-records, the fact remains, and that is PBS, under Joseph Pairin Kitingan and Maximus Ongkili have failed miserably.
Pairin and Maximus, both long-serving ministers, know this, and that they need not blame others or accuse others of copying “a so-called PBS struggle to upkeep the much-talked state right and the Malaysia Agreement 1963.”
In any case, the fight for state rights and autonomy are the fight of the people, and never was the exclusive right of the duo or any political party. PBS have remained loyal with Barisan Nasional since 2001 but what have they achieved for Sabah?
Year in year out at every PBS congress, they shout and flog about the same things but today the issue of illegal immigrants remains unresolved (and they expect us to wait despite the RCI having had been completed for 3 years now). State autonomy has been eroded with the central BN calling the shots for Sabah, including the appointment of the Chief Minister.
Actually it is funny that even though PBS are in the ruling party, their leaders could not achieve what they wanted to achieve, including on the issue of Malaysia Agreement 1963, and yet PBS leaders chose to stick together with their best friend cum political boss, UMNO.
Pairin on his part as chairman of the technical committee on resolving illegal immigrants and fake IC, until now has yet to produce copies of the so called report / recommendation to the Public at Large.
Does that mean that the public who pays for all these so called committees cannot have access to the long outstanding reports / recommendations? And when did the committee submit the same to the main national committee?
If these people are serious it would not take more than one year to prepare a Recommendation on how to resolve the fake IC and illegal immigrants in Sabah!
Another issue where PBS has failed and is failing the people is the power-sharing problem among the ruling BN component parties in Sabah. We have for years have been hearing PBS and Upko complaining about the lack of power-sharing in their own BN.
And we are wondering whether these so called dissatisfaction is to UMNO being their Ultimate Leadership in BN? Or do they mean to some other forces within BN?
Is it a fact that they are so scared to outline clearly that UMNO was dominating and trampling on them and that they (these components) don’t have gut to whack UMNO directly?
This only goes to show that PBS and UPKO are useless to the people, but very useful to their own top leaders and of course to their domineering ally UMNO. It is obvious that UMNO does not respect them, and that it is only PBS and UPKO who “felt” they are welcomed in BN, albeit shamelessly complaining they merely get crumbs falling from the tables of UMNO.
Now if that is the case, why are these people sticking with UMNO up to today? Do they really care about the life of the ordinary folks? Did they serve the people? Or they just care about serving their proxies, cronies and sponsors as well as few political appointees in their circle?
To Pairin, Maximus and UPKO leaders, if you have failed, please admit and don’t stop us from fighting for all of us long-suffering Sabahans.
