LABUAN: The Federal Government has approved the implementation of Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Labuan alongside Langkawi and expected to be officially launched next month.
Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Rozman Isli said the VOA is awaiting to be gazetted by the Home Ministry and that to be fully implemented by its agency of Immigration Department.
“It is the government’s seriousness of boosting the tourist arrival into the island, and now that the VOA had been approved,” he said at the Meet-the-Client Day of Labuan Sports and Youth Department here Monday.
He said the move would help increase the tourist arrival from the mainland Sabah via Labuan Airport and from Brunei via Labuan ferry terminal.
“Labuan must be prepared to receive the increase in tourist arrival that would in turn boost the Labuan’s economy,” he said.
Rozman said the approval of VOA would eventually pave the way for more airlines to land in Labuan.
