KUCHING – A woman died while another was injured in an accident involving three cars at Sungai Rayu, Feri Rambungan, at about 5.50am Monday morning.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said Norita Mohamad, who was trapped in her Perodua Viva car, was successfully removed from her car but was pronounced dead by the Lundu Hospital medical team upon their arrival at the scene.
He said Rabiatul Janna Shariman, who drove a Proton Persona, only suffered minor injuries and was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment, while no one was injured from the Myvi car that was at the roadside.
The rescue operation involved a team of 10 officers and firemen from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue station, with their EMRS (Emergency Medical Rescue Services) vehicle.
“The incident occurred 30 kilometres away from Petra Jaya fire station, involving three cars, namely, a Perodua Viva, Perodua Myvi and a Proton Persona,” said the spokesperson.
