New Mini Fire Station At Bukit Timbalai, Labuan

LABUAN: A mini fire station costing approximately RM3 to RM5 million will be built at Jalan Bukit Timbalai here, said Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Ismaidi Ismail.

He said the construction of the fire station in the area, under the 12th Malaysia Plan, would be of great benefit to the local population around the area in cases of emergency.

“With the new class D fire station with 21 personnel, it will speed up the emergency response in the Jalan Bukit Timbalai area and nearby villages of Kiamsam, Sg Miri and Bedaun which previously receives emergency assistance from the Layangan Fire Station,”.

“Therefore, we hope the construction of the new fire stations will further enhance the effectiveness and quality of Labuan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in dealing with emergencies especially fire,” he said after paying courtesy call on Senator Bashir Alias at the latter’s office today.

Ismaidi said the fire station was very much needed here in Jalan Bukit Timbalai as there has been rapid development of oil and gas related service-sectors infrastructures.

He said as Bukit Timbalai and nearby villages were prone to bush fires, especially areas close to the main roads, by having a fire station nearby, such fires could be put out fast.
