Need For Right Skills To Handle Complaints

PENAMPANG: Community leaders and village chiefs need to have the right skillset and knowledge to deal with public complaints.

Law and Native Affairs Assistant Minister Jannie Lasimbang said community leaders would only be able to perform their duties more systematically and with efficiency when they have the right skills and knowledge.

“We must look at complaints from a positive perspective and this is an important mechanism to obtain feedback as well as an opportunity to work with each other,” she said.

The Kapayan assemblywoman was speaking after officiating at the Complaint Handling Management and Customer Service Workshop at the Penampang Native Court here, recently.

The two-day workshop was jointly organised by Sabah Public Sector Training Institute and the Kapayan Constituency Liaison Office.

Jannie said the purpose of the workshop was to further enhance the efficiency of the community leaders in handling public complaints, besides boosting leaders’ quality of services.

Kampung Hungab Village Community Management Council chairperson Philipa Wong said had gained a lot of knowledge during the workshop as it was conducted in a fun environment.

“I really enjoyed the workshop, it was very informative,” she said.

Another participant, Dominic James Lojikim said talks held during the workshop were very inspiring and knowledgeable as the speakers’ method of delivery was easy for participants to understand.

“I hope more motivational or similar courses will be conducted in the future,” said the village chief of Kampung Ganang.
