MP Labuan Rozman Lodges Police Report Against News Blog

LABUAN: Labuan Member of Parliament Datuk Rozman Isli has lodged a police report today against a Sabah-based news blog on the alleged defamation report on March 9, describing it has damaged his reputation.

The report with the headline of ‘Rozman MP Labuan keluar Warisan sertai Muhyiddin?’, not long before the unveiling of the new cabinet line-up, went viral in the various social media platforms of Facebook and WhatsApp and that caused confusion and unnecessary to many Parti Warisan Sabah leaders.

“I already lodged a police report against the news blog to seek an open apology over his defaming report and that police report is also for the next course of action whether to take legal action or otherwise against the news blog,” he told a press conference at Dorsett Grand Labuan here today.

Rozman said he received non-stop queries from many parties especially from Warisan top leadership on the report.

“I strongly denied the Sabahkini2 report which has damaged my reputation…I believe the report has gone viral nationwide and I hope my brief denial on the infographic yesterday (Monday) and today will clear the confusion and this is my stand as Labuan Warisan MP … I will stick to Warisan and prepared to be an opposition MP to voice out the rights of Labuan and Sabah,” he said.

Rozman said the ‘intro’ of the report ‘Ahli Parlimen Labuan, Datuk Rozman Isli yang keluar UMNO menyertai Warisan pada oktober 2018 dijangka akan menyertai Perikatan Nasional (PN) sama ada Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) atau kembali kepada BN tidak lama lagi bagi menyokong kabinet Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin selepas kejatuhan kerajaan Pakatan Harapan (PH) pada 24 Februari lalu’, had given the negative presumption to his political principle and stand.

“I have actually consulted my friends who are well-versed on legal aspect on the report, and I was told there is a case of defamation that linked to the timing of the report was posted in time of the issues about ‘horse-trading’, where there were member of parliaments being persuaded into joining certain bloc.

“I believe there might still people believe in the report despite my denial in the infographic yesterday, I feel it is appropriate for Sabahkini.com to issue apology over his defamation report, the apology can help repair the damage of my reputation,” he said.
