Mother, Baby Son Suffer Burns In Early Morning House Fire In Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU – A mother and her baby son suffered burns when their house in Kampung Buang Sayang, about 14 kilometres from here, caught fire Monday morning.

Waasi Laali, 50, suffered burns on her face and hands, while her eight-month-old son, Gairel Latiga, suffered burns on his hands.

Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood said they received the distress call at 8.53 am and deployed two fire engines along with eight members to the location.

The fire was brought under control at 9.22 am.

“Besides a house, a car was also destroyed in the fire,” he said.

The department is still investigating the cause of the fire and estimated losses incurred.
