MIRI – The federal government should expand its housing projects for civil servants by developing more medium low cost housing schemes under 1Malaysia Civil Servant Housing (PPA1M).
State Assistant Minister for Tourism Datuk Lee Kim Shin suggested that such houses with prices ranging between RM100,000 and RM150,000 per unit be built to cater for the rising demand of affordable housing schemes, especially for civil servants.
“These types of housing project can be sold to junior officers too,” he told reporters here Tuesday.
Earlier Lee announced the PPA1M Eastwood Valley for Miri City project involving the construction of 1,075 units of double-storey terrace houses with a fixed price of RM300,000 each, 30 per cent cheaper than the market price for double-storey houses in Miri City.
PPA1M Eastwood Valley will be developed by a well-known property developer Pantai Bayu Indah Sdn Bhd, a member of Samling group of companies.
On the development of PPA1M Eastwood Valley, Lee said, for a start a total of 817 intermediate units of PPA1M would be put up for sale.
“So far 600 applicants have registered for PPA1M in Miri and those interested have until Dec 1, 2016 to do so,” he said.
He said, civil servants in federal and state departments or agencies, local councils and statutory bodies are eligible to apply.
“Please register through their website at www.ppa1m.gov.my if interested to buy,” he said.
He said the first phase of the project was expected to be completed in 2018.
