Missing Man Found Dead Believed To Be Attacked By Crocodile

TAWAU: A man who was reported missing yesterday while bathing in the river at Kampung Brantian in Kalabakan was found dead today with bite marks on his stomach believed to be attacked by a crocodile.

The body of the victim, identified as Mazlan Ampung, 26, was found floating by the search and rescue team at 12.50 pm today, 300 metres from where he was last seen.

Mazlan was reported missing at 7.35 pm yesterday.

The Tawau Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in a statement today said the search and rescue operation was carried out with the help of villagers, firefighters as well as police.

“The search was carried out using the villagers’ boats as well as boats belonging to APM,” read the statement.
