The man, homeowner, was sleeping when the fire broke out at 8.05am, and it was his relative staying nearby smashed the window to save him from the fire that destroyed 80 per cent of his house.
Firefighters responding to reports of a blaze at 8.10am found the concrete house engulfed in heavy flames.
“There are two individuals staying in the house, his 20-year-old son left for work early when the incident occurred, the man sustained injuries while jumping from a window to get out of a burning house,” said its director Ismaidi Ismail today.
Firefighters found the homeowner, with forehead injuries and he was taken to the hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, officials said.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
