MAN DIES AS FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE TOYOTA CRASHED INTO TREE IN LABUAN

LABUAN: A 29-year-old man was killed instantly when his four-wheel drive Hilux Toyota veered off the road and crashed into a tree at Jalan Tun Mustapha in the wee hour today (Sunday).

Labuan Hospital emergency services were called, but the man died at the scene in the 2.40am incident.

Labuan police chief Supt. Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the victim was driving towards the town centre from Jalan Pohon Batu when he lost control his vehicle at the scene.

“The man succumbed to his injuries …he was thrown out of the car and sustained serious injuries on the head and chest following the impact of the collision,” he said to reporters today.

Muhamad Farid said the road condition at the time of the incident was wet after hours of heavy downpour.

The case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
