KOTA KINABALU – Crowd favourite Madonna caused an upset and defied the odds by winning the ‘KK Got Talent’ competition held recently at the Cowboy Bar to walk away with RM1000 cash, a trophy as well as a certificate.

She outshone 10 other talented rivals in the competition. The night belonged to Madonna.

In a very entertaining and hard-fought finale watched by a packed crowd the ‘Diva’ had to muster all ‘her’ years of experience as an entertainer to beat her closest rival, the multi-award winner dance group the Flexible Crew to second best.

‘Her’ hilarious and extremely seductive performance had the crowd in stitches running and prancing all over the stage to climbing tables, teasing, cajoling, sitting on customers laps as well as seducing all and sundry with her heavily mascaraed eyes eliciting loud applause from the amused yet appreciative crowd who cheered her all the way.

When her name was announced as the champion the crowd went ballistic with joy and clear indication of their approval.

Coming closely in second place was dance group the Flexible Crew who had dominated the dance scene in Sabah by literally winning every competition they took part; but not this time.

In third place was songbird Nur Qhalisya.

She had been on a winning streak lately having just won the RTM-organized Bintang Remaja competition two weeks ago and was also the Sabah Idol KK & Keningau champion organized by Borneo Events Production (B.E.P).

Coming in fourth place was solo dancer Nelson Thien a member of the Swagger’s Squad (based in Keningau) grand champion winner of last year’s East Malaysia Talent Star.

Nelson did a superb highly-charged solo performance that brought tears to the judges’ eyes. The judging panel consist of Sabah’s top magician Ojet Magix, singer/dancer/choreographer Rezu and myself.

Fifth place was won by The Soul Revolution a 3 piece group comprising of a beat-boxer, break-dancer anf a rapper.

Their brilliant combination of dance, rap & beat-box was an indicator of how far beat-boxing had penetrated into the entertainment industry – a very promising omen for the sport.

“I’m very impressed with the awesome talents we have in this competition-one of the best I’ve seen so far. Sabah is blessed with so much talents just waiting to be discovered and becoming the next big star after Stacy Angie.

“Cowboy Bar had been very supportive in discovering and developing new talents all these years & I’m very grateful for their sponsorship”.

After KK the series will move on to Putatan, Keningau , Labuan, Kota Marudu, Tuaran and the east-coast towns of Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu.
