KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is prepared to investigate some current issues involving Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV).
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki however, said MACC would need to study the report made if there were elements of abuse of power or corruption.
“Yes, MACC will study the report first if it was under the purview of MACC or otherwise, and MACC will only investigate if there were elements of corruption or abuse of power,” he told Bernama here Tuesday.
Earlier Tuesday, the FGV board of directors ordered its group president/chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad and the group chief finance officer to go on leave following an investigation conducted by audit firm, Pricewaterhouse Coopers which could not be made public.
Meanwhile, Azam confirmed receiving information on FGV but declined to reveal the information received by the commission.
“MACC will also be asking Zakaria to give his statement to facilitate investigations to obtain further details on the matter.
“Apart from that, MACC has already received information earlier on the same issues but investigations only focus on issues of abuse of power and corruption in the FGV, and the informer was not being investigated personally,” he said.
